Athi River - Cholera Outbreak

In 2009, Athi River, a small community two hours outside of Nairobi had an outbreak in Cholera.

At the time, the Chinese had funded the highway construction between Nairobi & Mombasa to gain further access to the countries infrastructure from the major port of Kenya.

The community was widely effected by the outbreak caused by non regulated waste being spilt out of one of the factories. The government denied any cases albeit I documented the case from Athi River to a nearby town approximately 25km's away where the community was "found" in the hospital - most in critical condition, some had past.
